AIDY BOOTHROYD

Not much was known about Aidy Boothroyd when he was announced as Watford manager in March 2005. His first task was to avoid relegation as the season was drawing to a close which he achieved by a whisker with 1-0 victories over Stoke City and Rotherham United. His first full season in charge however was largely spent at the other end of the table, with Watford winning promotion to the Premier League via the Playoffs, after a 3-0 win against Leeds United in the Playoff Final in Cardiff. Although the following season in the top flight ended in relegation, Watford reached the semi-final of the FA Cup but were knocked out by Manchester United.

Now the manager of the England U21’s, Boothroyd is interviewed in Tales from the Vicarage volume 3 and has appeared at Tales from the Vicarage Live.
