MIKE WALTERS

Over the years Mike has covered a wide range of sports and tournaments; Olympic Games, Ashes series, 26 games in 34 days at the 1998 World Cup, Wimbledon, Open golf, world title fights and darts to name but a few. His first Watford game was a 5-0 win against Reading in the FA Cup third round in 1971 and blew the last four days of his annual leave in 1983 on the Hornets' remarkable UEFA Cup win against Levski Spartak in Bulgaria, the subject of his chapter in Tales From The Vicarage Vol 2, The Miracle Of Sofia. He also contributed to Volume 5, comparing Watford's FA Cup quarter-final wins at Arsenal in 1987 and 2016.

Bronze medallist for playing the violin at the Watford Music Festival on FA Cup final day in 1972, Mike is co-editing Vol 6, Rocket Men, celebrating the four legends who played in every division under Graham Taylor in the club's golden decade from 1977-87.

We caught up with Mike ahead of Watford's clash with Liverpool on the opening day of the 2017/18 season, you can watch our interview with him here.
