NICK WRIGHT

To many Watford fans, Nick Wright needs no introduction, which may seem strange given that he only made 36 appearances scoring six times. One of those six goals however has gone down in not just Watford’s but football’s history as one of the greatest goals ever scored at Wembley.

As Watford took on Bolton Wanderers in the 1999 First Division Playoff Final, Nick Wright connected with a corner in the most spectacular of fashion, producing an overhead kick that drifted over the head of everyone and into the top corner of the net to give Watford their first of two goals that afternoon, which helped see them reach the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Nick’s interview in Tales from the Vicarage volume 3 focuses on this crazy moment, which you can buy here.
