LANCE HARDY

Lance is the editor of Tales from the Red & Whites Volume One and one of the co-editors of Tales from the Red & Whites Volume Two. He is also the author of Stokoe, Sunderland & '73, which was shortlisted for Football Book of the Year at the British Sports Book Awards in 2010.

As an author he has spoken at book events at both the National Football Museum in Manchester and the German Football Museum in Dortmund.

Lance has supported Sunderland since the early 1970s. He was a Fulwell Ender at Roker Park, but has seen most of his matches at the Stadium of Light from the press box or television gantry, having worked for BBC Sport since 1990. Lance's work has taken him to numerous sporting events around the world, including five World Cups and four Olympic Games.

His first Red and White hero was Tony Towers, captain of the 1975-76 Second Division winning side and an England international while at Sunderland. "Therefore" Lance says, " I feel honoured and privileged to have the opportunity of interviewing him for the latest Tales from the Red & Whites project".
