ROB MASON

"As the Club Historian for Sunderland AFC I am pleased to be involved in the Tales From series. In the first of the Tales from the Red & Whites books I wrote a chapter on ‘The Team of All The Talents’ from the 1890s and also worked with Jimmy Montgomery on his chapter. The cover of the book was the scarf I wore at the 1973 FA Cup final. In the second Tales from the Red & Whites book I’ll be working alongside colleagues Lance Hardy and Graeme Anderson in featuring some more Sunderland greats."

Rob edited Sunderland’s match programme and club magazine until 2017, having written for the programme since 1986. Including annuals and yearbooks he has written well over 30 books on Sunderland, who he has been watching since 1967 and has seen play on over 140 grounds. Rob has also contributed to the annuals of a dozen other clubs as well as writing yearbooks and a Farewell to the Boleyn Ground book for West Ham United. In addition he also produces Betting Predictions on football and cricket for two websites and work as a freelance football writer.

Rob will also be one of the editors for Tales from the Red & Whites volume 2, which will be available later this year.
